The center of my universe is Manhattan where I now write about Quiltmaking. My three books are from C&T Publishing. I do venture off the Island to teach Quiltmaking. I’m in my zone teaching techniques and aesthetics of quiltmaking; I like what I do.
After graduating from college in 1975 with a degree in art, I immediately moved to lower Manhattan to paint. Within 3 years I put down my paintbrushes to work with contemporary art collections. In 1990 I took up quiltmaking and became a full-time quilt teacher and author.
I make "artful" bed quilts from classic blocks using my signature non-traditional methods. My “Why didn’t I think of that?” innovations make quiltmaking faster and easier. I have been a guest on HGTV’s “Simply Quilts” twice, “The Quilt Show”, “Quilt Out Loud” and authored three books for C&T Publishing: Make It Simpler Paper Piecing, Perfect Blocks in Minutes and Rotary Cutting Revolution.
My original techniques, efficient construction shortcuts and no-waste methods have been featured in magazine and books including Quiltmaker; Experts’ Guide to Foundation Piecing, 100 Tips from Award Winning Quilters and Donna Kooler’s Encyclopedia of Quiltmaking. My Simple Foundations vellum and my Make It Simpler® Interfacing product are distributed internationally.
